Quick Start

Install the Excel Add-in

The Sandspit Excel add-in puts a task pane next to your workbook so you can pull Procore data into Excel, prepare it, and sync it back. During early access you install it by sideloading a manifest file we send you.

Early access

The Excel add-in is in early access. There's no public listing yet, so installation is by manifest file. Email us to join early access and we'll send you your manifest.xml along with a sign-in. The add-in is also being submitted to Microsoft AppSource for one-click install, which we'll link here once it's live.


Early access

To get set up you need two things from us:

  • Your manifest.xml file (we email it when you join early access)
  • A Sandspit sign-in, which uses your Procore account

The manifest is a small text file that tells Excel where to load the Sandspit add-in from. You only sideload it once per device.


Prerequisites

  • The Sandspit Procore app installed for your company. See Install the Procore App first
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, Mac, or the web (any current version)
  • Your manifest.xml file from us

Step 1: Sideload the manifest

The exact menu names vary slightly by platform, but the flow is the same: point Excel at the manifest file.

Excel on the web and Windows

  1. Open Excel and create or open any workbook
  2. Go to InsertAdd-insUpload My Add-in
  3. Browse to the manifest.xml file we sent you and select it
  4. Excel loads the add-in and adds an Open Sandspit button to the ribbon

Excel on Mac

  1. Open Excel and create or open any workbook
  2. Go to InsertAdd-insManage My Add-ins
  3. Choose to upload a manifest and select the manifest.xml file we sent you
  4. Excel loads the add-in and adds an Open Sandspit button to the ribbon

Tip

If you don't see the button

Close and reopen Excel after sideloading. The Open Sandspit button appears on the Home tab of the ribbon once the add-in is loaded.


Step 2: Open Sandspit and sign in

  1. Click Open Sandspit in the ribbon to open the task pane
  2. On the login screen, sign in with your Procore account
  3. Select the Procore project you want to work in from the project selector

The workbook is now bound to that project. Reopening the pane keeps the same project selected. From here, pick a module to work in.


Troubleshooting

  • The add-in doesn't appear in the ribbon: close and reopen Excel after sideloading the manifest
  • Sign-in fails: confirm the Sandspit Procore app is installed for your company (see here) and that you're using your Procore account
  • "Project not found": start from a new blank workbook and select your project again so the workbook binding refreshes
  • Manifest won't upload: make sure you're selecting the manifest.xml file itself, not a folder or a renamed copy
